Median Art

The artifacts attributed to the Medes are few in number due to various reasons such as the brevity of their rule and the intermingling of their civilization and culture with that of the Achaemenids. However, some relics of the Oxus and Ziviyeh treasuries have been attributed to them. In the inscriptions on the walls of the Persepolis, depicting the gift-presenters, the representatives of the Medians carry such gifts as metalwork, weapons, and golden ornaments, underlining their expertise in metalwork. A number of archeologists have identified certain features of the Median art in some of the artifacts unearthed in places like Lorestān, Hasanlu and Kalardasht.
